Parents who are interested in discovering more about St Augustine's College had a special opportunity presented by an Open Day on Friday afternoon and evening, 10 March 2017. Visiting the College offered an insight into how the young men of St Augustine's have achieved levels of excellence in academic measures, music, drama and especially the technology and design spaces.
With a deliberate focus on student growth, the College has structures built around the concept of academic care supporting young men in their learning journey. St Augustine's College, as a comprehensive Catholic school, continues to demonstrate academic growth as well as continuing to invest in facilities that engage young men in real life learning. The students are enjoying new facilities including science classrooms and laboratories, as the College focuses on providing boys with exposure to creative and engaging STEM opportunities.
A new member of the College community in January 2017, Principal Jonathan Byrne said that the focus on individual growth through exceptional data analysing is providing targeted feedback for student improvement. The holistic nature of the educational experience means boys are developing facets of themselves and being challenged to step outside their comfort zones. Whether it is in sport, overseas social justice programmes, experiential learning opportunities or leadership experience.
During Open Day families toured the campus with students, observed or participated in teaching and learning and saw the new buildings. As guests of the College's Augustinian community, visitors shared share afternoon tea and a sunset BBQ.
