Augustinian Youth Encounter

The Augustinian Youth Encounter (AYE) is an intimate assembly of young people from Augustinian schools and parishes in Australia and around the world. AYE Lisbon will be from 25 – 30 July 2023, together we will share how the spirituality of St Augustine is being lived out in our individual communities. Join us for a July Pilgrimage from Milan to Fatima and Lisbon for the Augustinian Youth Encounter and World Youth Day! The Augustinian communities in Lisbon will welcome us and they will host the AYE with its theme: “Let us cling to Him and rise again.” (St Augustine’s Sermon to Catechumens 3.6)

The main event of the whole pilgrimage is the World Youth Day (WYD) from 1-6 August 2023. World Youth Day is an international gathering of young people that is generally held every two to three years as determined by the Holy Father. World Youth Day was established by Pope St. John Paul II in 1986. The theme for this WYD 2023 is “Mary arose and left with haste.” (Luke1:38). It will be concluded with a closing Mass that His Holiness Pope Francis is expected to celebrate in person together with all the delegates and pilgrims from around the world.
