Holy Spirit Parish, St Clair – Erskine Park

Holy Spirit Parish, St Clair is a warm and resourceful community, bursting with the fruits and gifts of its patron, the Holy Spirit. It has been under the pastoral care of the Augustinians since 1995.

Holy Spirit Parish strives to be a loving and welcoming community. It was established in 1981 when the Diocese of Parramatta was then part of the Outer Western Region of the Archdiocese of Sydney.

Many ethnic groups make up the members of the parish, mainly from Malta, Philippines, India, Pacific Islands, Croatia, South Africa and Mauritius. It has a Catholic population of 11,239 (2011 Australian Census), which is 42.2% of the total population.

The Augustinians started to serve the parish in January 1995 at the invitation of Bishop Bede Heather, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Parramatta.

The Mission of the People of God at Holy Spirit Parish is to witness to and to proclaim the word of God, and to pray and celebrate the Liturgy in word and sacraments so that we may be of service to others and form a community of “one mind and one heart on the way to God.” (St Augustine)

Its Augustinian identity is expressed on community, prayer, friendship and commitment to social justice.

The life of the community is nourished in many different ways—through the liturgy which is served by wonderful musical talent, by many community, social and pastoral activities, and various initiatives of ministry and outreach that are unique to the parish.
