In the present era, it would be unusual for a Roman Catholic parish not to have a website. Holy Spirit Parish at St. Clair in the Diocese of Parramatta (western Sydney, Australia) first launched a website in the early days of this century and now, after five months of preparation, its third completely-revised version appeared on the Internet on 29 August 2018.
The website is located at https://holyspiritstclair.com.au Fr Michael Belonio OSA (Parish Moderator) commented, “The new website offers our parishioners a quick and convenient reference point about the parish’s goals, activities and its Christian service to others. It will be an interactive tool for generating interest in the Sacramental life of the parish and guide parishioners and users to relevant information, liturgies and events within the parish and the Diocese.”
“Out front” the new website has contemporary web layout design, and “out back” an up-to-date web technology. The new website enjoyed the very active assistance of the IT Department of the Diocese of Parramatta and its in-house web designer. The IT Department will maintain its involvement with the website into the future.
It features about thirty pages, plus a link to about a dozen recent news items on the Diocesan Website, access to the FACEBOOK accounts of three parish activities/groups, and current and archived copies of the weekly Parish Bulletin for the past ten months. It also has a page of FAQ, which is computer language for “Frequently Asked Questions.” To be completed before the end of 2018, this page will enable online RSVP responses to parish events, as well as the payment by credit or debit card to general parish funds and donations to specific fund-raising causes promoted by the parish.
