Indigenous Spirituality and Interculturality
Published: 10 June 2021
A video, entitled Indigenous Spirituality and Interculturality, was released in February 2021 as part of an intercultural online series by the Catholic Religious of Australia (CRA). It features Ralph and Rob, who have known each other for twenty-six years. The video runs for eleven minutes. It is sectioned into four areas of thought, upon which Ralph and Rob each speak from the perspective and experience of the culture of their upbringing:
- The ability to wait, whether it be for a harvest in God’s good time, or for justice.
- A sense of an interconnectedness with a spiritual world than is far greater that just what we can see and touch. If you want to know the Creator, look at creation.
- Importance of family and relationships. We humans are part of creation, and creation is a part of us. We are in nature, and not above nature.
- The Cross of Jesus. In their lives generally, Aboriginal people are more likely to have been put in greater touch with suffering and rejection, and resonate with the experience of Jesus on Calvary.
