The Manly Vale Church has re-opened. From 28th April until Saturday, 6th June 2014 St Kieran’s Church was closed for renovations. The building is now forty-six years’ old, and major maintenance such as the replacement of its roofing tiles was necessary.
While this task was under way, provisions were made to improve the air flow in the church during summer and to provide heating for the colder months of the year. The Blessed Sacrament altar, the shrine to the Mother of Good Counsel, the confessional and the choir area have all been relocated.

While St Kieran’s Church was out of action for almost six weeks, all liturgical events took place in the other church in the parish, i.e., at St Cecelia’s Church, Balgowlah.
The new Patrick Fahey Parish Library and Children’s Library was recently opened in the parish centre at Manly Vale. The library takes over from a former parish library that had effectively ceased operation in recent years. It contains resources from both the main library and family library.
The new Library was dedicated to Fr. Patrick Fahey OSA (pictured), who is a former Augustinian Provincial and well known in the North Harbour Parish for many years. The honorary librarian, Mr John Kiely, prepared the way for the library’s re-opening. He will be present in the library every Monday morning from 10.00 am to midday to assist visitors. The library will be open from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on weekdays.
The Vine of personal and comminuty spiritual renewal at North Harbour Parish.
The Parish has begun a program called The Vine which, more than introduce further activity, highlights what already is available in the parish but possibly underutilised. A number of volunteers maintain the program.
The Vine promotes initiatives and activities for spiritual nourishment in the parish weekly bulletin and on the parish website, and does so also on social media via a Twitter feed and a Face book group, where already fifty participants log in for regular uploads of simple prayers and short articles on a variety of matters related to the living of the Faith and Christian values.
